What is Rebel Finance School?

Katie and Alan Donegan created Rebel Finance School in the height of the first lock down in 2020.  They saw people were in a pickle with their finances, losing jobs and struggling and they wanted to help.  

They created a 10 week course designed to teach everyone what they needed to know to take control of their finances and start investing for their future.  The course has now been running for 3 years and we wanted to see who it helped and if it was having any impact of not!

How many people came?

We created the course in 2020 and just shared it with friends on Facebook.  That year 133 people came along and we tested the materials and developed the course.

In 2021 several friends from the Fi world shared the course and we reached 346 people.  This was the biggest course we had ever run at that point and it felt alive and full of energy. 

In 2022 Katie was featured in the Sun Newspaper for retiring at 35.  This post went viral and we had 5,304 people attend the course.  We broke zooms capacity and had to go onto YouTube Live and for the first time ever people could watch on catch up. 

The Donegan's have a mission to help 1 million people take charge of their finances and we are well on our way.   Can you help us reach even more people in 2023?  Please share the course with friends family and more!

Where did people come from?

We had 5304 people from 28 countries join us in 2022 alone.  

70% of the course attendees have been from the UK.  As this is an online course, it is not restricted to the UK - Alan and Katie want to help whoever wants to be helped!

By watch time 58% of the YouTube viewers are female.
69% of the Facebook group members are female.

​We are so proud of the fact that we help people all around the world.  We have run live personal finance workshops in Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, America and Japan.

We don't care where you are from, everyone should have the opportunity to participate in the global economy and the opportunities that comes from that.

What do you believe about money?

Before and after the course we asked people about their beliefs around money and finance.  Whilst running the course we have discovered that it is not the practical steps to investing that are the challenge (anyone can learn how to open an ISA and invest in an index fund) but the beliefs that people have about money.

If someone believes that "realistically, chances are I will never be rich" then it is almost impossible to get them to save and invest to become wealthy as they believe it is impossible.  Our first mission at Rebel Finance School is to win people's hearts and minds over and help them to believe that it is possible  for them to create wealth for their retirement. 

The Donegans are SUPER proud of the impact they have had on people's beliefs before and after the course. 

What you believe about money and then what is possible for you in relation to money directly affects your financial future. 

If you held the top three money beliefs from the course:

1. It takes money to make money
2. The rich get rich and the poor get poorer
3. Realistically, chances are I will never be rich

Do you think you would ever try to become wealthy?  Do you think you would ask for a raise and start to invest? Do you think that you would think that you have to be lucky and win the lottery or get inheritance to become wealthy?

This is the root cause of the problem and why most people will never even try to become wealthy.  This is the purpose of RFS, to show people they can do it and the step by step guide to doing it.

We are very proud of the community we have build on Facebook.  Currently the Rebel Finance School Facebook group has 3698 members (January 2023), 3125 of them are active which is a very high percentage for Facebook.  71 % of the people in the group are from the UK.
